SITEMA develops and manufactures mechanical clamping devices and linear brakes for round rods. Our products secure, brake, lock and position loads and machine components in linear motion. Depending on the product series, they operate hydraulically, pneumatically, mechanically or electrically.
Since 1979, SITEMA has specialised exclusively in this field. Development, engineering, manufacturing, assembly and final testing are carried out in-house at the company’s headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany. This ensures consistent quality, full technical traceability and reliable performance in safety-critical applications.
SITEMA products are used worldwide wherever loads must be secured, positions must be maintained or high forces must be generated safely and precisely.

Safety Catcher
SITEMA Safety Catchers protect personnel and machinery against the unintended lowering or falling of lifted loads. They provide an independent mechanical safety level and secure the load directly on a round rod.
Safety Catchers are used for medium, large and very large loads. They clamp steplessly at any position along the rod and continue to hold the load without requiring a continuous energy supply. Hydraulic and pneumatic versions are available for compressive and tensile load directions.

Safety Catcher series are DGUV-tested for use as mechanical restraint devices in presses, including applications according to ISO 16092. The independent mechanical securing function remains effective even if the hydraulic system or power supply fails.
Locking Unit / Rod Lock
SITEMA Locking Units provide precise and stepless locking of rods and linear axes in both load directions. They are used when a defined position must be maintained reliably, even under load.
Unlike purely hydraulic positioning, the rod is held mechanically after the required position has been reached. No continuous hydraulic or pneumatic pressure is required to maintain the clamped position. This reduces the risk of unwanted movement caused by internal or external leakage, pressure variations or temperature changes.

Safety Brake
SITEMA Safety Brakes are designed to brake and securely hold loads on vertical or inclined linear axes. They are primarily used in automation, handling systems and special machinery where personnel and machine components must be protected against uncontrolled movement.
KSP – Pneumatic Safety Brake
The KSP is pneumatically released and mechanically clamps the rod when the release pressure is removed. Its proven mechanical operating principle provides reliable protection for small and medium-sized loads.
KSE – Fully Electric Safety Brake
The KSE enables the integration of a mechanical Safety Brake into machines with a fully electric system architecture. Its mechanical design is based on the proven KSP series, while the brake is electrically released and controlled through the SiBox.
The KSE is particularly suitable where an additional pneumatic supply would otherwise be required solely for the Safety Brake. Depending on the complete safety architecture and application design, the KSE can be used in safety functions up to Performance Level e according to ISO 13849-1.
