The Felss Group, founded in 1905, is solution provider in the field of cold forming for tubes and solid materials in the automotive industry.

As a lightweight construction expert, we design and realize optimum solutions and processes to fulfill our customers’ precise needs - from the design and construction of machines to the manufacturing of finished products in component manufacturing. Since the merger with HMP in May 2019, around 1,100 employees are working at our nine locations in Germany, Switzerland, the USA, China and Slovakia today in close collaboration with our customers around the world on the challenges of tomorrow.

Products and services

The rotary swaging cold forming process enables the efficient and economical production of lightweight design parts. In the case of rotary swaging, several tool segments impact simultaneously on a workpiece in quick succession. The processed material begins to flow and is formed with great precision. The process is suited to form the most varied external and internal geometries. A tube connection is thus just as possible as the highly precise and quick production of steering wheel shafts, drive shafts, airbag cylinders, or adjusting wheel drives. Maximum design freedom for visible and invisible components is thereby made possible.

Axial forming enables the quick production of highly precise and resilient lightweight design parts. With axial forming, a matrix forms the desired profile on a hollow or solid workpiece. In this way, the manufacture of external and internal toothing systems, dropped centers, involute toothing, and the most varied profiles is possible. The forming is thereby highly precise.

Rotary Swaging Machine Generation e4.0

Generation e4.0 is extremely fast and flexible. The latest generation of Felss rotary swaging machines is operated electrically and thus enables significant energy savings and a reduction in the amount of oil required in running operations. It offers shortened setup times, a high degree of adaptability, and simple process control. Generation e4.0 is also Industry 4.0-compatible and is home to various digital applications.

Axial Forming Machine Aximus V02

The Aximus V02 is used to form one or more highly precise spline systems on hollow or solid parts with a total length of up to 400 millimeters. The vertical Aximus offers a sixfold tool changer and a patented system, which reduces the axial forces and makes it possible to tooth extremely thin-walled tubes. Thanks to the interlinkage of the Aximus with other stations, additional process steps, such as threading and deoiling are possible.

The Felss Group has purchased the two HMP companies Heinrich Müller Maschinenfabrik GmbH and HMP Umformtechnik GmbH.

Now it's official: The Felss Group has purchased the two HMP companies Heinrich Müller Maschinenfabrik GmbH and HMP Umformtechnik GmbH. In a final step, the transaction has now been reviewed and approved by the responsible authorities. As of 13 May 2019, Heinrich Müller Pforzheim is thus officially part of the Felss Group, which is now responsible for the management of both companies.

We are pleased that we will soon be able to offer you even more through this merger: In addition to the expertise in rotary swaging and axial forming, through which we will bundle our strengths and core competencies, HMP will also contribute rolling to the Felss Group.
